Since 2012 AIMES has worked directly with Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust in developing C-CLOUD, a new cloud-based service supporting the CCAD reporting requirements for paediatric cardiac surgery and for e-rostering within PICU.

The project is to create a Clinical Cloud-based Large-scale Open User Datastore (C-CLOUD) to support standardised, harmonised and pseudominised record linkage services which enable disparate health data sets to be brought together on a single platform. The project will address two use cases to ensure the generalised applicability of the platform;

  1. The first use case will be undertaken in collaboration with the Department for Paediatric Surgery at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and will involve the aggregation and interoperability of secure operational and demographic patient data to provide “outcomes” information into the National Institute for Clinical Outcomes Research (NICOR) Central Cardiac Audit Database (CCAD).
  2. The second use case involves enhancing data from the unlinked anonymous (UA) newborn anti-HIV surveillance programme in North Thames at the Institute of Child Health (ICH) with the Office for National Statistics (ONS) data matching for the provision of services for the Health Protection Agency (HPA).   At the core of the project is the creation of a generic record linkage platform which will facilitate the development of new health informatics services in the UK and provide a secure and anonymised enclave in which the data aggregation will be auditable and compliant with emerging standards including HL7, DDI and SDMX.
